Graduating seniors from the six high schools that make up the Whittier Union High School District: California, Frontier, La Serna, Pioneer, Santa Fe, Sierra Vista, and Whittier. Applicants must be scheduled to graduate by June, have a minimum 2.0 GPA, and show interest and plan to enroll in a college or trade school to prepare for a vocational career.
Vocational careers refer to those jobs that don't necessarily require a 4-year college degree, but do require specialized, hands-on training. There are many vocational and trade schools in Southern California that provide targeted training to prepare students for work in specific fields. For a list of vocational career examples, please click here.
A maximum of $2000 is awarded per selected student. $1000 is paid after graduation, upon proof of enrollment in the college/vocational school of your career choice. The remaining $1000 is paid after the successful completion of the first term of college with a minimum of 9 units and GPA of 2.0, or half of a vocational school curriculum.
You can either apply online or by downloading and printing the application packet. Complete the application, write a statement of career interest, and provide two recommendations, as outlined in the information packet.
